Job Summary

AMS.NET is seeking highly motivated Apprentices to join our Cabling Department in the So Cal region based out of the Anaheim office. The Apprentice works under the direction of the Lead Installer and Cabling Technician to learn and increase skills in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining voice, security and/or data cabling required for installation of AMS.NET projects. Ideal candidates include recent college, trade school and/or high school graduates with a strong interest in pursuing a career in specialized telecommunications cabling. The Apprentice will report directly to the Cabling Operations Manager. Compensation will be commensurate with the State Prevailing Wages and State Salary Guidelines. Travel onsite throughout the designated office region (LA or East Bay Area) is required — AMS.NET covers all travel expenses for field employees. Must enroll in and complete all WECA requirements. AMS.NET also covers the WECA Apprentice program expenses.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works with Lead Installer and Technician on cabling projects so they will be completed on time and on budget.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with both internal and external customers and ensures their needs are met.
  • Assists with troubleshooting technical networks including voice, data, video and paging.
  • Completes personnel documents as necessary (timecards, expense reports, vacation requests, etc.).
  • Works with Lead Installer and customers to resolve complex or sensitive problems and complaints.
  • Follows all AMS.NET safety policies and procedures.
  • Must enroll in and complete all WECA requirements.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Previous work experience in technical or service industry a plus.

Certifications:

Must be enrolled in an accredited apprentice program. We cover WECA apprentice programs expenses.

Additional information

Special Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.

Job Requirements:

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Good driving record.
• Automobile and car insurance.
• Frequent travel to customer sites.
• Enrolled into an Apprentice Program.
