Systems Engineer

Job Summary

AMS.NET is seeking a self-sufficient Systems Engineer to join the Field Engineering Department in our Fresno office. Plans, implements, and provides ongoing support of network systems of high complexity in LAN/WAN, Security and Wireless customer environments to fulfill business needs for performance and cost benefits. Moderate travel is required — AMS.NET covers all travel expenses for our field employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a “hands on” post-sales implementation engineer, implementing and supporting networking projects

2. Physically install equipment including servers, controllers, routers, switches, access points

3. Complete post validation documentation

4. Perform routine upgrades on customer equipment

5. Maintain and develop relationships with clients during project engagements

6. Maintain technical certifications as required

7. Plan and coordinate system utilization and capacity, involving configuration and UAT testing

8. Identify opportunities and best practices for improving efficiencies with emerging technologies, including routing/switching, wireless, and security hardware and software.

9. Resolve escalated hardware and software issues related to LAN/WAN and Wireless

10. Develop and maintain documentation and resources pertaining to LAN/WAN and wireless network including but not limited to testing requirements, system admin training, implementation best practices, upgrade path best practices, customer facing deliverables, etc.

11. Provide mentorship for Technician level resources

Job requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

1. Hands on experience with routing, switching, wireless, and network security platforms is required.

2. Network Engineering and Troubleshooting experience relative to complex data infrastructure technologies and best practices in both end-user and data center environments.

3. Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting LAN/WAN, wireless systems and security hardware/ software.

4. In-depth knowledge of test, measurement, and analysis techniques.

5. Solid working knowledge in wireless networking implementation and management

6. In-depth knowledge of layer 3 technologies, such as MPLS, VRF, HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP

7. Understanding of Network infrastructure and best practices

8. Experience with Switching and Routing configuration and operational support

9. Intermediate to advance Skills with Microsoft office and Visio

10. Strong verbal and written communication skills

11. Excellent interpersonal Skills

12. Works well in a team environment

13. Positive and Professional Attitude

14. Ability to apply critical thinking in architecting advanced solutions and problem solving.

Education and Experience:

1. Experience gathering customer requirements, white boarding/presenting solutions, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM) and preparing project Statements of Work (SOWs)

2. Project Implementation Background required

Job preferences

Certifications:

Manufacturer professional level certification preferred (Cisco CCNP, Aruba ACMP, etc)
Associate level manufacturer certification highly preferred (Cisco CCNA, or Aruba ACMA, etc)
